Prioritising Time in a World of Responsibilities
Azam Hassan
‘Growth is a constant theme in our lives. As children, we yearned for independence and the ability to do certain things. However, once we reach that age, we are faced with new responsibilities that come with growing up. These responsibilities were not something we had considered as children.
As young adults in our mid-twenties, work and responsibilities consume most of our time. Change from having so much leisure time that we were bored out of our minds to the complete opposite where there isn't leisure time at all or it being very limited. Leaving us wishing for extra hours in the day and pulling out our hair (figuratively as I'm bald) in the sheer panic and rush of trying to ‘knock off’ that next thing on our to-do list. Then you look to parents and caretakers and couldn't help but wonder how they spend their hours.
You probably have a sense of what I’m getting at. As we get older, time becomes increasingly more limited and restricted, often due to the busyness of worldly matters. This is a reminder to take the time to reflect on how we prioritise our time and focus on what is truly important in life; deen as well as family. We never know when we or someone close to us might pass. We should strive to prioritise our time with things that are important and beneficial in this life and more importantly the hereafter.
