Changing Our Mindset in 2023

As we enter the new year, we find ourselves caught up in setting resolutions. It’s no doubt that being surrounded by like-minded people collectively striving towards the same goals can boost motivation and provides a solid start to the new year. It then comes as a surprise when most habits fall through by the end of the month.

But why is it that we fall short in building healthy habits and taking action to change our lives for the better? Some can argue that dramatic changes in the way we live our lives are less likely to stick.

While we're busy building habits and adopting lifestyle changes, we likely forget an important factor that provides the boost needed to follow through – a change in mindset. How often do we think of the willpower needed to stay on track with the goals we set for ourselves? Or the resilience needed to bounce back after a failure. While it may be easy to plan for measurable habits, how do we change the way we think?

You may have heard of the term ‘growth mindset’ but believed that you couldn’t apply it to yourself, when in fact it can apply to every aspect of our lives. Believing that we can develop skills over time and recognising that setbacks are all part of a learning process is a powerful tool. Ultimately, if you’re comfortable with failures and see them as opportunities, you’re then opening yourself to countless invaluable learning experiences.
