Every year, on the 24th of December, the Hararian Organization of Australia comes together to host a remarkable youth-led and organised fundraiser event. This inspiring initiative, driven by the passion and dedication of our youth, culminates in an unforgettable evening. At the heart of this event lies a simple yet powerful mission: to empower our youth to take the lead in bringing this event to life, from its inception to its successful conclusion. The funds raised during this special night are a vital resource for the Hararian Organization. These funds are instrumental in facilitating future events and supporting the growth of our vibrant community.

Through the dedication and hard work of the Hararian Organization and the generosity of our community members, we have been able to acquire our newest Markaz, a pivotal community centre. This Markaz serves as a cornerstone for our community's activities, providing a space for gatherings, education, and cultural preservation. With our newly acquired Markaz, we are set on expanding its facilities and offerings. This expansion will nurture and empower current and future generations, fostering a stronger, more connected community.

2023 D24: HARARI WEDDINGS

On December 24, 2023, we embarked on a captivating journey into the world of Harari weddings, delving into the rich traditions and customs surrounding the union of "Rami and Hayat." Guests were fully immersed in the profound cultural heritage as they adorned traditional wedding attire, commemorating the joyous union of the two newlyweds.

The night brimmed with joy as the vibrant celebrations of Harari weddings radiated throughout the hall. From charming plays and heart-warming performances to the lively auction and more, every moment contributed to the festive atmosphere. Adding in an extra dose of fun, secret roses were playfully and discreetly shared among loved ones, infusing the event with surprises and heartfelt connections.

2022 D24: LIFE AND DEATH

On December 24, 2022, we embarked on a profound and meaningful night, celebrating the intertwined essence of life and death. It was an evening where we reflected upon the profound wisdom that 'Once we die, we are buried with only the shroud on our backs. The one who remembers this will always remember death.'

The night's messages resonated deeply, encouraging all to cherish the connections with our loved ones, fortify our cultural heritage, seize life's opportunities to accumulate spiritual rewards, and, above all, continually remind ourselves of the inevitable journey into the hereafter.

This transformative experience unfolded through speeches, enchanting performances, immersive live plays, and an array of captivating presentations. It was a night where the significance of existence and the fragility of life were illuminated, leaving an indelible mark on all who attended.

2021 D24: UNITE US IN SOLIDARITY

On December 24, 2021, we celebrated the second instalment of our lockdown events, an occasion that intertwined the challenges posed by the global COVID-19 pandemic with our cherished annual fundraising event. This year, our overarching theme was 'Unity' - a sentiment that resonated deeply in the hearts of all those watching from home.

Amidst the trying times brought on by the pandemic, our night's message was a resounding call for solidarity and unity, guided by the inspirational slogan 'Ikhiyy Gamma Kut Yasamtana.' In these words, we found strength and purpose, reflecting the teachings of our faith. In Islam, the concept of 'ummah' underscores the importance of a unified community, bound by faith and empathy.

Just as the strands of a tapestry are woven together to form a beautiful pattern, our diverse community came together, each thread representing an individual's unique experiences and challenges during the pandemic. In this unity, we found resilience, compassion, and a sense of belonging. Together, we learned that through solidarity, we can weather any storm, and through unity, we can emerge stronger than ever before.

2020 D24: PATIENCE, A BEAUTIFUL VIRTUE

In the past two years, we've navigated a unique journey through unprecedented times. December 23, 2020, marked a significant turning point as we adapted to the constraints of a global lockdown. It was a year of innovation and resilience as we brought our annual event to life, virtually from the comfort of our couches, demonstrating that while the world around us had drastically changed, our unwavering commitment remained steadfast. The narrative of our lives had shifted, but our core purpose remained constant. Throughout this challenging period, we learned a profound lesson in the beautiful virtue of patience.
