A Place to Call Home

The Markaz, a cherished space for our community, is more than just a piece of land; it is a hub of culture, faith, and unity. This is a space to learn Islamic knowledge, have sleepovers, play soccer, learn Qur’an, and serve as a vital centre for communal activities promoting personal and spiritual growth.

Since I was a kid, the Hararian community relied on rented community centres to conduct activities. The spaces, though functional, never truly felt like home. Through persistent efforts and generosity of the people, the community has now established a permanent Markaz which symbolizes our resilience and dedication.

The Markaz plays a crucial role in fostering a sense of belonging and identity among community members. It offers a safe and nurturing environment where children and adults alike can deepen their understanding of Islamic teachings, engage in recreational activities, and strengthen their communal bonds. The playground and soccer pitch encourage physical activity and camaraderie, while the classrooms and house provide settings for spiritual and educational enrichment.

Owning this space allows the community to plan long-term initiatives, host larger events, and create a lasting legacy for future generations. The Markaz stands as a testament to the community's unity and faith, highlighting the importance of having a dedicated space that we can truly call our own.
