Ultimate Success—Is it Really Achievable?

Have you ever wondered what true success looks like? What does it really mean and how can it be accurately measured?

For some (or many), success may be defined by the obvious things such as wealth, status and stability. Other aspects could also include health and happiness. But do we really have to achieve these to be deemed ‘successful’ in life?

Of course, you could take a pragmatic approach and argue that all these aspects are necessary in living a somewhat meaningful life.

But there’s a problem in making such general, bold statements. To many, they might seem unachievable, especially in the short-term. After a while, we’re left thinking: ‘Can I really achieve this?’ or ‘Am I aiming too high?’. During a fallback, it’s easy to lose sight of the end goal.

Such general statements also allow you to delve into comparisons that are sometimes unhealthy. We live in a time and age where it’s not easy to break from ideals. While it’s great to look up to a role-model, it’s best to keep in mind that each person is their own. As a result, we each have our own standards for success, and this is okay!

Finally, we should remember that success can be measured through simple, attainable things in life. Whatever stage of your journey you are at, think of any short-term goals or positive changes you are making or can make and start from there.

As someone in their 20s, it can undoubtedly feel like time is moving fast and no progress is being made. These days, I try to think about the little steps I’ve taken each day in order to hopefully build healthy habits and a positive future.
