The Power of Influence
Sitra Abdosh
As a young adult navigating through her twenties, it’s hard to say that I’m solidified in my habits, goals and motivations. No one talks about the huge development that goes on during this time. How you’re still getting comfortable with your newfound adulthood. How it’s constantly changing with new experiences and learning opportunities. How you’re influenced by so many things around you. Yet still, the biggest impact has been from the people I’ve come across.
There may be people in your life that inspired you to do better, those who have educated you, or even forced you to look back and reflect on yourself. Leaving the comforting circle of your childhood friends and community drives you to be critical of yourself and those around you.
Through new friendships, mentors and acquaintances, your point of view and perceptions you’ve held onto for so long are challenged. People have the ability to change you, little by little. Until eventually you realise that you’re comfortable with the person you have become, and eventually go on to inspire others in your own ways.
