Reflecting on our AYM x Life Uncut Expo

When we contemplate networking events, our initial reaction often tends to be an apprehension toward interpersonal interactions. I admit that I initially felt similar upon hearing about a networking event. But I will be honest, I definitely overlooked the potential that an event like this could have in my pursuit of a career. Conversation is a luxury that we take for granted on a daily basis. They can serve as mirrors reflecting our evolving selves. Through dialogue, we exchange ideas, beliefs, and experiences, forging connections that sculpt our identities. These interactions challenge bias, expand our understanding, and stimulate personal growth, demonstrating how conversation shapes and influences who we become.

The team at Life Uncut has been determined to shed light on areas of our community that have thrived undetected. They have achieved this by initiating conversation, one that sees workspaces beginning to integrate and share spaces that aid inspiration and leave no question unanswered. Our annual networking expo, fuelled by Life Uncut has undoubtedly kept me and my team busy for the last few months. From bringing interview-like segments to our screen during covid lockdown, the team has worked endlessly to orchestrate an event like no other seen at AYM.

This year, the team coordinated an event consisting of panellists from many different backgrounds. The panellists conducted a conversation focusing on their stories and sharing their journeys throughout their careers. The expo then opened the floor to members of the room. It was amazing to see everyone use the opportunity to forge connections and use this time to ask questions regarding resume tips and interview pointers in the respective workshops.

We definitely encourage you to leave us a message here on AYM and share your thoughts about the event (if we saw each other lovely to have met you) so we can prepare more for you all in the future!

Love, Gihan
