Nabiyy Mawlid 2023

The Hararian Organisation hosted a joyous Mawlid celebration on the 1st of October 2023, which was to commemorate the birth of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. We gathered at a local venue where meals were shared amongst brothers and sisters. We also engaged in heartfelt recitation of verses from the Holy Quran. 

Soon after, the highlight of the night began - where we took part in chanting the Mawlid Kitab. This book or collection of writing is a significant part of Harari culture, a custom which has been going on for many decades. It focuses on praising the Prophet, highlighting the biography of the Prophet’s life including his upbringing and milestones. This is portrayed through Hadiths, verses of the Quran, as well as religious poetry all compiled in the book. This recitation was also accompanied with many zikris that were chanted throughout the night. We were also blessed that evening with being in the presence of the Prophet’s hair, peace and blessings be upon him.

The Mawlid celebrating the Prophet Muhammad’s ﷺ Birth is always a cheerful occasion to celebrate. We thank all attendees and guests for sharing such a memorable night. We also thank the event organisers and volunteers in ensuring the night was a success.
